Our clients often ask why they should be making measurements in systems where they are not experiencing microbial issues. Shirin Fallahtafti, MES, EP, Product Line Manager at OSP, likes to use the analogy of weight loss and weight gain. It’s all about measuring change. You can’t measure change if you don’t have a baseline (an original measurement to make your comparison to). If you’re looking to lose weight, you need to know what you weigh and fluctuations within a normal day/week. How else would you know if you made improvements? It is also important to measure success, as this is an opportunity to gain an understanding of the conditions you want to replicate. Trending well performing systems allows you to understand what your normal is and know very early on when conditions begin to change, often before there are negative outcomes.
