Case Study: Can Microbes Contribute to Wellbore Clogging?

In an effort to understand wellbore clogging-related problems being experienced by an operator, the OSP Technical Service team was engaged to determine if microbial activity could be a contributing factor. Utilizing LifeCheck DNA qPCR testing technology, the well was swabbed and a microbial analysis was completed to understand if microbes were a contributing factor. The testing results identified elevated levels of microbes, correlating to an increased risk of microbial biomass accumulation, which can contribute to clogging-related problems.

*LifeCheck DNA qPCR testing was selected as the data highlights the types of microbes present within a sample, enumerating and identifying microbial subgroups.
